Nicolas Lodeiro

Round 26: Gameday at a glance

After a quick turnaround from a disappointing round 25 (for me, at least), round 26 is here and there’s less than 7 hours until the deadline.  Let’s take a look at some players to take note of as we hit gameday.

We’ve got four players on suspension for this round.  Kofi Opare is out with a red card, Tony Beltran will miss the Rocky Mountain Cup clash tonight for yellow card accumulation, and Kevin Ellis and Christian Bolanos are both out due to MLS disciplinary suspensions.  Looking for a straight swap for any of these guys shouldn’t be a problem, but my guess is you’re probably not looking to any of those teams for high defensive points anyway.

Watch status

There’s a slew of MLS players that were called up for World Cup Qualifiers that start on September 2nd, but whether they actually leave this weekend or not remains to be seen.  The most notable is Nicolas Lodeiro being called up for Uruguay, and whether he’ll be present for the big Cascadia clash against Portland on Sunday.  Brian Schmetzer has said that Lodeiro will be fit to play after going a full 90 in Houston on Wednesday, but he doesn’t directly address whether he’ll be gone with Uruguay before then.

Among others called up for the qualifiers is Andre Blake, Cyle Larin, Robbie Keane, Anibal Godoy, and plenty more.  See the full list here.

There are some notable injuries to keep an eye on as well, including Aaron Maund who’s out with a broken toe, Brian Rowe who’s still out with his head injury, and Jermaine Jones who’s still listed as doubtful with his quad injury.  Be sure to check out the full up-to-date injury report!

UPDATE: Clint Dempsey has been ruled OUT for Sunday’s game against the Timbers. Read the story on

Yellow card cautions

As always, there’s a whole grip of players on yellow card accumulation cautions.  Keep an eye out for these guys this weekend–if they pick up a yellow card they’ll miss the next game.
